RICHLAND CO.— A Charleston man is facing a felony charge after police say he kicked his way into another man’s home.
According to information filed in the case, on or about May 9, Chad C. Miller, 42, of 415 Harrison Ave., Charleston, committed the offense of Criminal Damage to Property when he knowingly damaged the residence of Daniel Hataway by kicking in the rear entrance to the residence, at 5767 North Ill. Rte. 130 causing damage to the door and the door frame.
Miller is also charged with Criminal Trespass to a Residence for allegedly entering the abode in the first place.
In his home county of Coles, Miller’s criminal history includes a conviction November 16, 1998, for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, which resulted in a sentence to the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) for five years and cost him $146 in fines and fees.
A Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol conviction April 15, 2002, earned Miller a sentence of conditional discharge for two years.
He was also ordered to attend a special facility and to obtain alcohol treatment.
Miller was also ordered to pay $2,239 in fines and fees, of which he still owes $1,339.
He was shipped back to IDOC April 12, 2005, on a sentence of two years after he was found guilty of Aggravated Battery of a Peace Officer/ Fireman and Domestic Battery.
That case cost him another $1,173.20 in fines and fees, of which he still owes $473.20.
Miller was returned to IDOC on a sentence of 30 months July 16, 2012 after he was found guilty of Domestic Battery Causing Bodily Harm and Obstruction of Justice Destroying Evidence.
That case cost him $679.20 in fines and fees, of which he still owes $369.20.
Miller was released from police custody May 10 on a recognizance bond.
