ISP District 12 announces August enforcement activity

EFFINGHAM, Ill. – Illinois State Police District 12 Commander, Captain Cory Ristvedt, today announced activity and enforcement figures for the month of August. 

Troopers in District 12, which includes Clark, Clay, Crawford, Cumberland, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, Lawrence, Marion, and Richland counties, answered 211 calls for service and initiated 1,737 incidents in the field. 

In addition, enforcement figures totaled 753 citations and 1,101 written warnings, including 394 speeding citations, 7 DUIs, 67 seat belt citations, 7 child restraint citations, 138 distracted driving violations, 360 written warnings for speeding, 21 move over violations, and 64 criminal arrests. Troopers also assisted 260 motorists, conducted 275 Motor Carrier Inspections, and investigated 56 traffic crashes. 

There were 4 fatal traffic crashes investigated by District 12 in August:

Head-on collision claims the life of Vandalia woman

Olney man dies on 130 in three-vehicle accident

Salem man dies in Marion County motorcycle accident

FATALITY: Single-vehicle accident claims the life of Marion County man

During the month, 537 citations and 534 written warnings were issued for “Fatal Four” violations. These violations are most associated with fatal traffic crashes and include Speeding, DUI, Failure to Wear a Seat Belt, and Distracted Driving.
