It took us a while to find it, and when we did, we finally figured out what sleep deprivation can do when you’re on deadline: you mistake one Leaf for another.
And in this case, it’s not one of those things that falls from the tree…although both Leafs seem to have been dropped on their heads a time or two.
In the article “Accused sex offender out on recog bond” (which we have yet to do a Read the Lead on, but go ahead and click it; we’ll make sure we do the RTL next week) in the current (May-June 2014) edition of Disclosure, Zachary Leaf, babydaddy of Dennis York‘s granddaughter and accused sex offender out of Richland County, was misidentified in a CUTLINE (that thing that most people call ‘caption’ and appears under a photo) as his imbecilic cousin, Tyler Leaf. Why? Because we spent the better part of 2010 writing about Tyler Leaf’s misadventures in Richland County, where he repeatedly got in trouble and compounded it later on. We didn’t even KNOW there was a Zach Leaf prior to this publication; and let alone that he was Tyler’s cousin, until we got this bitter missive from the aretard earlier today:
To which I advised:
When TYLER Leaf got into all his trouble (which includes DUI and, amusingly/appropriately enough, Harassing Through Telephone or other Means/Threatening to Kill), he had Richland County public defender Brad Vaughn as “his attorney.” We know for a fact that other dolts of the caliber as Tyler Leaf have approached Vaughn about suing over such a simple thing as a typo, and Vaughn told them, point blank, “Just be glad they spelled your name right.” In this case, that’s particularly true, as Leaf harassed us on email and on our Facebook page (we deleted that bullshit; nobody else should put up with threats, and we’re no exception), thus calling attention to his criminal activity as well as poor spelling and grammar skills.
Perhaps Tyler should talk to his attorney about having convicted his cousin Zach in print; Zachary Leaf is NOT a “sex offender” as Tyler claimed in his missive both in the email and on Facebook, a public forum. Zach is an ACCUSED sex offender, and there’s a big difference. Maybe Zach can sue his lil cousin for slander…because that’s exactly what it is.
We apologize for mistakenly typing in “Tyler” instead of “Zach” in the cutline, a fear we had when we were placing that article because it gets pretty draggy the last few days of production…but we have to point out: if we make a mistake like that, we’ll correct it, but don’t send a hate-filled, cussing tirade to us about it, and DON’T post it on Facebook (a couple of other people are about to find out how bad of an idea that is; keep watching)…just email or message us and politely let us know, and we’ll do a polite clarification/amplification, as one of our readers learned when we published this one on page 24 of the current issue. Otherwise, the clarification/amplification will look like this one…because you get what you give, and I don’t think TYLER Leaf made a typo.
