RICHLAND CO.— A convicted felon from Olney with a lengthy criminal record leads the county’s criminal pack report this month.
Anthony “Tony” Dean Gosnell, Jr., 25, of 904 Bradley Dr. Olney, has been charged with Aggravated Assault of a Peace Officer, Aggravated Battery of a Peace Officer and Resisting a Peace Officer.
Information filed in the case alleges that on or about May 8, at the intersection of Butler and Lexington Streets, Gosnell swung his fist at and chest-bumped officer Daron Harmon.
He also is said to have refused to stop running after being ordered to stop by Harmon.
Junior was convicted in 2008 of one count of Unlawful Manufacture/Delivery of Cannabis 10-30 grams.
For his weedy crime Junior was sentenced to two years probation and ordered to pay $2,592 in fines and fees, of which he still owes $2,367, leading some to speculate that either he was a poor money manager, poor businessman or his weed was more weed than “weed.”
Junior was busted again in 2009 and convicted on one count of Residential Burglary, which earned him a six-year sentence in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
He was also ordered to pay $308 in court costs, of which he has paid nothing.
In fact, Junior was serving a year and half probation sentence for a Theft conviction on July 26, 2013 at the time of his most recent arrest.
In his most recent case, Gosnell pled not guilty May 22 and waived his right to a preliminary hearing.
Battery of a child
Jody M. Coleman, 33, of 909 Laborers Dr., Olney, has been charged with a single count of Aggravated Battery of a Child.
Authorities allege that on or about May 9, Coleman committed battery on a child under the age of 13 when she hit him in the chest, choked him, bit him on the back of the head and threw him into a car, following the recent trend where it seems to be cool to emulate a zombie.
Coleman entered a not guilty plea May 23.
A $2,500 cash bond has been set in the case.
Precursors
Cassandra A. Taylor, 26, of 4576 East Elm St., Dundas, has been charged with one count of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine Precursors less than 15 grams.
According to information filed in the case, on or about May 24, 2013, Taylor was at Wal-Mart in Olney and knowingly possessed pseudoephedrine with intent to manufacture meth.
A cash bond was set in the case at $2,500, however, Taylor was released on a recognizance bond May 28.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled in the case for July 24 at 9 a.m.
Burglary
Cyril R. Darell-Neal, 22, of 222 East Harmon St., Olney, has been charged with one count of Burglary after authorities say on May 6, Neal knowingly and without authority entered a motor vehicle, owned by John D. Chenault, with intent to commit theft.
Cash bond has been set in the case at $7,500.
