RICHLAND CO.— A last name synonymous with criminal activity in Richland county has surfaced once again.
Well-known convicted doper Luis R. Baca, 38, of 725 South Fair St., Olney, has been charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon.
According to authorities, on January 4, 2016, Baca was found at his residence to be in possession of a set of brass knuckles.
And for those wondering what exactly this particular Baca has done to earn himself such a charge, they need look no further than November 7, 1997 when Baca was convicted of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia for which he was sentenced to conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay $468 in fines and fees.
Then he was arrested August 17, 2001 and charged with Unlawful Possession of Hypodermic Syringe, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Possession of Cannabis.
Baca was found guilty on the syringe charge and fined $558.
On May 14, 2013 he was convicted of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and sentenced to court supervision for 18 months, ordered to attend DUI school and to pay $1,117 in fines and fees.
At the time of his arrest Baca was serving a probation sentence of 24 months handed him Dec. 17, 2015, after he was found guilty of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine.
He was also ordered to attend a special facility and to pay $3,011 in fines and fees.
To add infamy to the name there is also Christian Baca, 22, whom authorities have been arresting for years.
Locals finally got a bellyful of Christian and sent him to the Illinois Department of Corrections for 30 months January 7, 2014 after he was convicted of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (prescription medication).
Elizabeth L. Baca, 39, also known to local authorities as a writer of bad checks over the years and a thief, is currently serving a probation sentence of 24 months, handed her April 3, 2014, after she was convicted of State Benefit Fraud (the fancy name for welfare fraud aka ‘gaming the system).
Luis Baca was released from police custody Jan. 6 after a $1,500 cash bond was posted on his behalf by George Young, of 129 East Scott St., Olney.
