JOHNSON CO., Ill. - The death of an infamous "reality TV" personality has been confirmed by sources in Johnson County.
On page 13 of the current issue (January-February 2017), the article regarding the ongoing case of Glenn Ramey in Richland County brings up something we learned on deadline for this issue: That it was being quietly reported that Ramey's mom, Hannah Ramey/Palmer/Gilliland of rural Johnson County had died.
Hannah is popularly known in deep southern Illinois counties as "Hannah from Vienna" after having appeared on an episode of one of the strangest reality-TV shows ever aired, "Hoarders." You can read about it at this link.
Unfortunately as of deadline of the current issue on stands, we could only confirm with a couple of Johnson County public officials that they'd heard that Hannah had passed, and so that's what we reported. You can read that article if you have an online membership to the e-Edition at this link; if you don't have an online membership, you still have about a week to get out and get this issue on stands at most of these vendors (some may be sold out, which happens at about this time in the news cycle).
Anyway, we've had it confirmed that Hannah passed away on December 30 from a massive heart attack.
A relative said the she was taken to the hospital the night of a Christmas party with a heart attack. She was transferred to Evansville. While there, she had a fall at the hospital, "and then she was sore and laid around in the bed for a week.
"She finally got up to go to the bathroom and had another massive heart attack," the relative said, "and they lost her then."
There was no local obituary, so the confusion ensued, but we got it. The article in the current issue, incidentally, also has information on what happened with the money raised in the wake of the November 23, 2016 death of Sabrina Stauffenberg. It clears up some questions that have come about in the weeks following the matter, wherein citizens from all over went to the GoFundMe page to raise money for the 8-year-old's funeral expenses, only to later learn that the funeral home covered it.
