Another Thacker in the headlines

RICHLAND CO. – Not an issue can go by without at least one of the Thacker clan ending up in the headlines, and the February issue here is no exception.

Unlike previous issues with the more adult (term used loosely) Thackers getting hemmed up on felonies, foreclosures or orders of protection, however, this one is merely a little Ordinance Violation in the City of Olney.

There, Dalton Thacker, 17, was cited on December 18 at 12:16 a.m. for a Negligent Driving OV.

Little Dalton, who reports an address of 1391 N Illinois 130, Olney, was caught on the 1200 block of East Laurel in Olney at that date and time by OPD officer Brian Nuttall, apparently driving negligently.

No other information was available except that Thacker was issued a court date of February 21 to address the matter.

Why such a lengthy time to attend to it, when the citation sets out a 28-day turnaround for “immediate payment,” is unclear, unless there is no dollar value attached to the specified ordinance violation.

In other ordinance violation news within the city of Olney, another child, Rick A. Meador, 15, of a trailer on South West Street, was issued a citation on Dec. 20 at 206 N. Ohio in Olney for Unlawful Use or Possession of Tobacco. That particular violation is notated as carrying a $100 fine, supposedly due within 28 days; however, Ricky was given a Feb. 21 court date as well, which is why it showed up in the current court run for this issue.

Tina Longbons, 30, of Sumner (according to the citation, at any rate), was issued an OV on Dec. 22 for Accumulation of Junk at property located on 616 W. North Ave November 3. That, too, is a $100 defense and requires a court appearance, this one on Feb. 28, despite the 28-day “notice” on the citation…which might be why Olney doesn’t get too many properties cleaned up, as the whole process is rather confusing for those who pay attention to the citations.
